According to the reading experts, these are the primary intellectual responses that are often recommended to be explored, as we navigate any reading text, to ensure that we get it all at the end of our reading endeavour:
1) INITIAL RESPONSE:
- what does this mean to me?
- what does this remind me of?
- what more do I need to know?
2) REFLECTIVE RESPONSE:
- how can I organise my ideas and insights in terms of lesson takeaways?
- how can I relate or connect this with what I know about or have already read about from other sources?
- what can I do with it in terms of extracting gems, so to speak?
3) ASSIMILATIVE RESPONSE:
- How can I best transmute this array of information and insights into productive outcomes and/or concrete deliverables that can add /compound/multiply value, to my life, or to my work, or to my business, or even to my client(s)?
- in terms of, say:
a) T2D (Things to Do) immediately, or within the next 7 days;
b) A2T (Actions to Take, especially for longer term projects) within the next 90 days or 12 months;
c) Q2P (Questions to Ponder) for further exploration;
