As you read the following elegant quote, attributed to Marcus Aurelius, Roman Emperor from 161 to 180 AD and a Stoic philosopher, whom Dr Maxwell Maltz had often quoted in his Psycho-Cybernetics classic:
I like you to recall what Dr Maltz had taught us, via his astute observayions as follows:
“We age not by years but by events and our emotional reactions to them.”
"We are injured and hurt emotionally, Not so much by other people or what they say and don't say, But by our own attitude and our own response."
As I interpret, the waves in the foregoing quote of Marcus Aurelius represent every type of stress, problem or challenge which life often throws our way, or which we stumble into, unwittingly.
If we are weak, we are swept away, and lose our ability and capacity to protect ourselves, much less shelter anyone else.
This mental strength, like all others, is built on repetition.
