Just came across this technique - which I have had been using since I was a young teenager in the sixties, starting with Reader's Digest - in my newsfeeds:

Sentence mining for English Learning.
If you’re not familiar with the technique, it involves learning languages by collecting, saving, and reviewing sentences.

In a nut shell, it's a form of compressed immersion, as I would call it!
Why is it so effective?
- It helps you create mental associations with language you already know
- It exposes you to the vocabulary in different contexts
- It helps you learn nuanced vocabulary depending on context
In short, sentence mining helps you master words faster than trying to memorize word lists.
Here’s the quick-start method:
- Find a resource with a steady supply of accurate sentences
- Select simple sentences that demonstrate the word’s meaning
- Save those sentences in your notebook or flashcards
- Periodically review;
It's a very good technique, not just for language learning alone, but for building one's ideas bank!
