The late Bob Proctor shared a vital lesson from one of his six great coaches and mentors in his life, Earl Nightinagle:
“Now right here we come to a rather strange fact.
We tend to minimize the things we can do, the goals we can accomplish, and for some equally strange reason we think other people can accomplish things that we cannot.
I want you to understand that that is not true.
You have deep reservoirs of talent and ability within you that you can bring to the surface and achieve all that you desire.”
Doesn't this astute observation rings a bell with what Dr Maxwell Maltz had taught us?:
- “It is common knowledge among psychologists that most of us underrate ourselves, short-change ourselves, sell ourselves short. Actually, there is no such thing as a superiority complex.”
- “Do not tolerate for a minute the idea that you are prohibited from any achievement by the absence of in-born talent or ability. This is a lie of the grandest order, an excuse of the saddest kind.”
Pearls of wisdom, indeed!
